Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

If you have been diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) you will be invited for an annual review with the Practice Nurse. During these reviews the Nurse Practitioner will discuss your symptoms, check your inhaler technique, and optimize your treatment. Spirometry will often be carried out during this appointment, for more information  click hereThis appointment will usually last around 20 minutes.

When it's time for you to have a review, you could complete a review online before your appointment. You can also check your own inhaler technique by watching  these videos .

If you smoke, stopping is the most effective way to prevent COPD from getting worse. Help is available here

Pulmonary rehabilitation is a specialist program of exercise and education designed to help people with COPD. It is the one thing that makes the biggest difference to the quality of life of those with COPD.
